I’m Lan, a filmmaker and visual storyteller who brought Rolling Pawtraits to life. Born from a simple belief that every companion carries a story worth preserving. Rolling Pawtraits is inspired by the animals and memories that have shaped the life my wife and I share with our companions.

Growing up with dogs and cats, I learned early that companions are never simply pets — they become part of a home’s rhythm, a family’s memories, and the moments we carry with us.

Two dogs, in particular, have shaped the life we share.
Oscar, our French Bulldog, was our first dog as a family. We lost him in 2017. It took us four years before we felt ready to open our hearts again.

Before Rolling Pawtraits, I trained in film and spent more than a decade working across commercials, television, and narrative productions.
Throughout my years on set, there is one word I have heard thousands of times:

It is the quiet signal that everything is ready—that the camera is in motion, and a moment is about to become something that can be remembered.
So when a tiny Yorkshire Terrier entered our lives, the name came naturally.
We called her Rolling.

She marked the beginning of a new chapter for us—one still rooted in image-making, but shaped by a different kind of joy.
And Rolling taught us something else.
She is shy by nature. In unfamiliar places, she needs time to observe, settle in, and decide for herself that everything is safe.
We learned that the most meaningful portraits often happen when a pet feels completely at ease—when they are not asked to perform, but simply allowed to be themselves.

And Rolling taught us something else.

So when I imagined a portrait studio built around the unique nature of each companion, I began with a simple question:

Why ask them to adapt to us, when we could come to them?

Our Philosophy
Your pet is already the work of art.

We do not believe in turning an animal into something they are not. We look for the expressions, habits, stillness, mischief, and tenderness you already know—the version of them you see every day, but may never have had the chance to preserve.
Our role is not to invent.
It is to observe, to shape the light, to quiet the frame, and to recognize what is already there.

Comfort
A beautiful portrait should never come at the expense of an animal’s comfort. We create space for trust, curiosity, and ease before the photograph begins.
Rhythm
Every companion has their own pace. Some pets are naturally shy. Some are older, have limited mobility, or simply need more time to feel at home.
Presence
Animals are perceptive and sensitive. A familiar environment allows them to relax and reveal the personality we know and love.
Trust
Trust and connection cannot be rushed. We make room for hesitation, play, rest, and every moment in between.
Because the experience matters to us as much as the image.
We want every session to become a meaningful memory — a moment shared with your companion, and a portrait that lives beautifully in your home for years to come.
